MAZDA CONCEPT STYLING LEAVES AUDI, BMW & MERCEDES IN THE DUST

Some concept cars are just plug-ugly, some are a bad joke and some make you want to salivate. The Mazda Vision Coupe is in the latter category and has bought out car lust in everyone we've shown it to. The judges at the 2018 Festival Automobile International agreed.

At the 2016 Festival Automobile International in Paris, Mazda’s RX-Vision won the prize for the Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year. Continuing on a winning streak, at the same awards ceremony this year, Mazda's’s latest concept, the Vision Coupe, captured the same trophy. Then just weeks later it was awarded the Concept Car of the Year at the 2018 Car Design Night in Geneva.

Quite amazing kudos for the Mazda design team and their vision of "Kodo"

A car isn't simply a mass of metal. Mazda believes it's more like a living creature. Creating an emotional bond between a driver and their car comparable with
the relationship between horse and rider. That's the ultimate goal of Mazda's Kodo “Soul of Motion” design.

Thanks to their success in Paris and Geneva, Mazda was invited to showcase the Vision Coupe on the shores of Lake Como by the organisers of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. This prestigious event primarily showcases heritage and historic cars, but a few modern manufacturers are handpicked to showcase their latest concept cars.

Ikuo Maeda, Mazda’s design boss, was at the event and said that part of Mazda's mission is to champion design in the automotive world:

Someone has to keep the beauty alive as the world accelerates towards self-driving.

The video and picture gallery below celebrates Mazda’s attendance at such a prestigious event.

GadgetNET says: The German brands are making Mazda's job easy, by coming up with ugly 2018 concepts like the frog-eyed BMW 6 Series below, and in the gallery the gross Mercedes SUV Coupe and the mundane Audi SUV.
